Happy 10th Birthday Paper Affair Dallas!

Happy 10th Birthday Paper Affair Dallas!

Today officially marks our 10th Birthday! After a decade of amazing people, paper, and products, we decided to take a moment to reflect on how wonderful and grateful we are to have made it this far. To help celebrate the occasion, we asked three incredible women who have been with Paper Affair since the beginning to talk a little bit these past ten years. Walk with us through memory lane by scrolling through some images both old and new with some heartfelt words from Melissa, Betsy, & Cindy!

Dallas Store Location – Paper Affair Dallas’ Grand Opening

MELISSA W, Owner of Paper Affair Dallas:

Fear, excitement, nerves, joy…….all emotions I was feeling 10 years ago this week, as I planned to open the doors to my very own business.  I had spent my career in the investment and finance world, and knew nothing about running a retail store. All I had was a LOVE of paper and gifts, and a desire to provide a place for customers to buy the kinds of things I liked to buy, while providing a great experience and a high level of personal attention. Fortunately, through a friend of a friend, I found Cindy Bernbaum, the Dallas store manager, who had some retail experience.  She joined me when the Lovers Lane store was a big grey concrete box and an idea, and she, along with Betsy DeMarco, have created and built our Lovers Lane flagship store, which opened May 21, 2007.

10 years later, and two more store locations in Plano and Frisco, there is less fear and nerves, and the rewards have far outweighed anything else. I have had SO MUCH FUN! I love that customers have become friends, and employees have become family. I love that there are customers that we printed their graduation announcement, and then their wedding invitations 5 years later, and then their baby shower announcements a few years after that. It is so much fun working in this community and we look forward to the next 10 years! Thank you so much to our loyal customers – your friendship and support means the world to this little locally owned business – and keeps us excited to go to work every day!

Much LOVE – Melissa

WOW… I can’t believe Paper Affair Dallas is 10!! It seems like yesterday we all wore our green t- shirts for the Grand Opening Party. Time truly does fly when you are having fun and these past 10 years have been that, FUN!!!

Melissa has done such an amazing job keeping up with all the latest trends and knowing just what the Paper Affair customer wants. Our customers are loyal and keep coming back for all of her great finds and the friendships they have forged with us over the years. It’s like one big Paper Affair Dallas Family and I feel so lucky to be part of it!

CINDY B, Dallas Store Manager: What a decade it’s been! What was once a sweet little stationery store with a few gifts is now a buzzing hub of invitation experts and gift queens. Our invitation and special order lines have grown from twenty to more than two hundred. In the walls of our store, I’ve see babies become teenagers, brides become mothers, and mothers become grandmothers. Best of all, our clients have become my friends. I cannot express how much joy that brings me.

That’s why I can tell you proudly one thing that hasn’t changed – and never will! – our commitment to our customers. You’re the reason we are always looking at new trends, new colors, and new designers. Why we have our in-house custom vinyl and embroidery machines. Why we transformed from typesetters to a team of graphic artists. And you’re the reason we don’t just create an invitation; we help you create your dream event.

I’m thrilled that the newest addition to our stores is a wedding and gift area. We have monogrammed china from Pickard, monogrammed linen napkins & guest towels from Kimberly Schlegel Whitman as well as fantastic silver pieces from Mariposa and Beatriz Ball.

We are so grateful for you and look forward to another exciting decade serving our fabulous clients!

Thank you for choosing us for your holiday gift selections! Thank you for recognizing us as Best of Big D for 3 consecutive years. Thank you for always recommending us to your friends. Thank you for making it a point to stop by our stores even if you live in another state. Thank you for being sweet and kind customers. Thank you for allowing us to take your creative vision and make it a reality. And lastly, thank you for celebrating and keeping up with us throughout these last ten years!!!!
